Lilydale to Yea ride 2nd November 2025

Despite relatively short notice of the ride, we had a nice size group out for Sunday's ride to Yea via Eildon.

Adding to the variety was the fact that we had two pillions – a son and a grandson on different bikes. It was “Chop’s” first ride with the Ulysses Club, he brought his son along

and he was made welcome. I had a grandson on board.

I enjoyed the backroads and vineyards we passed enroute to Healesville and despite heavy traffic we had a good run through town. Traffic over the Black Spur was heavier than I had hoped, yet we still had a relatively good run and once past Narbethong we got along at a good clip. We took a brief rest stop at Taggerty

and then rode into Eildon via the weir wall where we saw quite a bit of boating activity before stopping for a rest, cuppa and chat in

ree

Eildon which was quite busy.

After a good long break, we rode on via Skyline Road, where we stopped to take in the view

where we enjoyed a casual lunch and in the shade on the median strip.

Thanks to Gary for doing Tail End duties and it was nice to meet Michael from the Shearwaters Branch.

Gary and Les headed off toward Seymour and five of us then rode back together via Junction Hill and Break O Day to Glenburn and then back towards the Yarra Valley. Reece, Michael and Brian went off their own ways around the Toolangi turn off while Vaughan and I parted company at Yarra Glen.

Thanks to all who came along, I thoroughly enjoyed the day. The heat was quite a contrast to the two previous weekends. Two weeks ago, my hands all but froze and last weekend I had a clothing preparation glitch and got quite wet. Today I was wetting down my neck cover to provide extra cooling!
