Today was my turn to lead a ride so I chose this route due to the never ending winding roads and the pretty scenery along the way.

A dozen or so riders arrived at Officer for the start including Josh on his shiny Beemer joining us for the first time. Colin and Jack called a bit before 10am to say they were at Lilydale so we agreed to meet at morning tea at Healesville. Weather was perfect for this time of year with sunshine, although it was quite cold to start off. Brian Lacey agreed to be Tail End Charlie for the ride and we were off on time.

One of the best things about Officer start point is that you can be into the ride proper almost straight away so after a very short ride through the subdivion we were on Officer Road and into the twisties.

The trip along some of the best scenic roads and around a thousand bends, with a short gravel road detour

just to keep everyone on their toes, got us to Healesville in good time. Traffic was not a problem and we came into Healesville along Don Road so no slow crawl up the main street to the Beechworth Bakery which was packed with bikes taking advantage of the good riding weather.

After meeting Colin and Jack and partaking of refreshments we took off along Myers Creek Road through Toolangi, Kinglake, and up the Whitlesea-Yea Road before turning off to Strath Creek which is at the end of another winding but high speed road for lunch at the relatively new cafe. We found a big table where most of us gathered and had a good chat over lunch.

After lunch we left in groups. One heading for the Break O'Day Road, another favourite. Another followed me back through Kinglake but left me there and headed down the Goat Track while I took the easy route through Yarra Glen and Eltham.

All in all another great day on the bikes. Many thanks to Brian for wrangling the tail end and to all the guys who joined us for a really nice ride.
