Pat led a great ride today
Over a dozen of us joined him at Lilydale
and Samuel took on TEC duties.
Paul returned for a second ride with us.
We had a really good run with minimal traffic disruption and simply used the Maroondah Hwy over the Black Spur and on to Yarck before we explored some back roads and then stopped at Merton for a cuppa / chat break.
The only hiccup (traffic wise) was one car driver through the “Spur”
who had no idea what his mirrors or slow vehicle turn outs were for. He created quite a convoy (not just us – some cars too) for a few kilometres but we still got across at a reasonable rate and apart from that had a truly great run.
From Merton we rode north
towards Euroa and stopped in for a look at Polly McQuinns
on the way to Strathbogie.
We then go some great views from Kelvin View
before descending to Euroa for lunch.
After a relaxing break and chat,
many of us returned to Yea via Creightons Creek and Highlands. I really enjoyed the views and granite outcrops along that road. It was reasonably sunny when we left Lilydale but by the time we crossed the mountains it actually it actually clouded over and essentially it was quite cool for the ride. It is early spring so I suppose we shouldn’t complain, and the rain held off until I got home.
Thanks Pat, Samuel and all who came along. A great day out with fellow Ulysseans.
