Eight of us turned up at Lilydale for Jack Fei’s ride to Yea. It was cold but didn’t look like raining so after a briefing and discussion of the route and a vote not to go up Buttermans Track on a wet day we headed off through Coldstream where we turned into Killara Road and wended our way through the hills and on to Healesville.
Then it was up the delightful Myers Creek Road at a good clip through Toolangi to the Melba Hwy where we headed for the Break O’Day Road and on to Yea for morning tea.
Despite the promise of good weather we copped lots of drizzly rain intermittently for most of this section.
From Yea we then did the Ghin Ghin road through Highlands, Caveat, Gobur and Terip Terip coming out at Yarck and back to Yea for lunch where we met four motorcycle cops out doing their thing looking for young speedsters. They seemed to like us old guys however so we had a nice chat. One of the cops was Norwegian so I had a nice talk to him about Colin and my recent bike trip to Norway.
Then it was off home again. Many thanks to Jack for designing a wonderful ride using lots of our favourite roads at a good clip too. In spite of Highlands being covered in bits of tree from the recent rains and storms we all managed to negotiate it safely. Took a bit of concentration however.
