February and things coming up

After a couple of lots of reconnaissance, I have decided the morning cuppa stop on Sunday will be outside the Bunyip[ Bakery and the café next door.

The next social night should be on Wednesday 18th February. Keep an eye on the calendar and let Brian know your intentions - RSVP.

The Branch AGM is scheduled for Saturday 21st Feb. Nominations have closed, but please come along and have your say. I was wondering if anyone feels like a ride down the peninsula after the meeting subject to weather?

We still have some vacancies for ride leaders in February and March. Don't be shy - committee members do lead many rides, but the more variety of people involved the better. If interested, we'll help with advice etc.

Mike is leading a mid week overnight ride to Yarram via Wilsons Promontory 25 - 26 Feb. Check it out and let hi…

(The following is taken from a monthly Natcom email, by Lyn Tout).

" Renewal – are you financial?

Please check your card for the renewal date and if expired you have three options: renew online; contact the office 1300 134 123 (please leave a message if they don’t answer and they will get back to you. It is a very busy time of the year.) or Direct Debit. CommBank Ulysses Club Inc. BSB 062-813 Account # 1020 1995. Reference your name and membership number.

In attempting to contact members I found that 59 members emails bounced and many others are being blocked by their providers. Can I please ask everyone to speak to other branch members and ask if they are receiving emails from…

January and upcoming events

A mid week ride has been posted for this Wednesday.

The branch's first social for the year is booked for Wednesday 21st January at the Mulgrave Club. - Please come along and enjoy some camaraderie AND please remember to RSVP so that Brian is able to organise an appropriate amount of seating.

A three day ride is planned for the Australia Day Weekend. We'll keep an eye on whether or not the fires impact those plans. While they probably wouldn't appreciate "gawkers", the local businesses may well appreciate some custom and visitors. It is a great weekend away if circumstances permit.

There is an alternative ride scheduled on Sunday 25th January.

Nominations for the branch committee are due later this month and the AGM is scheduled in February. Some fresh faces and ideas on the committee are always appreciated and welcome.

Ride reports are being posted regularly so check them…

Summer Riding and Safety

The following is a straight lift of the latest Newsletter from the Ulysses Club Road Safety Committee.

As summer is probably our busiest “riding season” it is worth reading and absorbing as even a hint of fatigue or heat stress could ruin many things towards the end of a day’s riding.

Be aware, look after yourself, keep an eye on your companions and please aim to finish every ride trip with yourself, your licence and your bike intact.

“HYDRATION and FATIGUE

Now that we are well and truly into summer with heat wave warnings appearing regularly in the media, we felt it timely to send this newsletter which focusses on hydration, again.
