enjoyed Brian’s

ride today and he really does know some great combinations of roads in Central Gippsland.  Despite the absence of some regulars, BMW was still very well represented with both 1250 and 1300 versions of GS and RS models.  Ducati, Honda, KTM, Suzuki and Yamaha were also represented.

The weather was great for riding after two very wet days.  Nick took on TEC duties.

Brian then took us into the hills and we even used a newly sealed road

not previously used on branch rides.  We did encounter some holes plus leaf and bark litter as we skirted the edge of the Dandenong Ranges and then had a good run through old railway towns through to Longwarry and Brian then took us along a great mix of roads through rolling green hills and past dairy farms.  I won’t detail them and will simply say it was a great mix of roads and scenery for riding.  We enjoyed a cuppa rest break at Willow Grove

and then Brian provided more enjoyable riding through to our lunch break in Neerim South.   I did struggle along the way resisting the urge to pull over and take more photos. 😉

Half of us then returned vis Powelltown and enjoyed a smooth and traffic free run through the mountains as far as Gladysdale.  We had a bit of a communication glitch when we stopped at Yarra Junction to discuss routes home and bid each other farewell as I had intended to avoid some Warburton Hwy towns on the way back to Melbourne.  Whoops!

Overall, a well-planned and enjoyable ride and thanks to all who came along.

Cheers John Cook
