About a dozen of us

assembled at Lilydale for a shortish ride on Fathers’ Day.

The overnight weather hadn’t been good, and the roads remained wet enough to get all our bikes quite dirty by the time we finished the ride.  Mario’s shiny green Kawasaki was certainly showing some grime by the time we reached Gembrook

The Yarra Valley looked a bit misty or smoky when we assembled in Lilydale for Jack’s ride and still looked much the same as I rode back home in the afternoon.   Lots of beautiful sunshine in between though.😎

I believe I counted about 15 bikes, and it was great to see participants from far and wide.  I suspect Rick from Rosebud may have had the longest ride to the start point.  Once greetings and lies were exchanged,

Jack briefed us on the route.  This included a “tight and technical” ride on narrow roads between Yarra Glen and St Andrews which I love but some members don’t enjoy. Sam took on tail end duties and we set off via the highway via Coldstream to

Yarra Glen and into the hills.  We had a good run and even had little traffic climbing up to Kinglake

Today was my turn to lead a ride so I chose this route due to the never ending winding roads and the pretty scenery along the way.

A dozen or so riders arrived at Officer for the start including Josh on his shiny Beemer joining us for the first time. Colin and Jack called a bit before 10am to say they were at Lilydale so we agreed to meet at morning tea at Healesville. Weather was perfect for this time of year with sunshine, although it was quite cold to start off. Brian Lacey agreed to be Tail End Charlie for the ride and we were off on time.

One of the best things about Officer start point is that you can be into the ride proper almost straight away so after a very short ride through the subdivion we were on Officer Road and into the twisties.

The trip…

 Weather and forecasts certainly make a difference to weekend activities.  Thank you to the possibly more than 2 dozen people who came out for Sunday’s ride to South Gippsland.

Ian Taylor volunteered to do TEC and once greetings and the examination of an amazing variety of rides was completed, we rode out shortly after 10.00 AM in light mist.  We left the highway after one traffic light and hit the back roads behind the Dandenongs and through orchard country down to Pakenham and on to Garfield

where we met up with more riders and had an relaxed chat along with refreshments.
