Mirboo North Ride with a lot extra Sunday 15th March 2026
Eighteen people took part in today’s circuitous ride from Officer to Mirboo North.

Alf did a great job leading and managed to show us some roads I’ve never previously used or combined into a ride route. He went a step further by taking us to his home in Korumburra for our morning cuppa and rest break and Renate had put on a very impressive spread for us as well us welcoming us all into her home including people she had never met. Thank you Renate and Alf.
Graham joined in for his second ride with us on this DR 650

and Ewan came along for his first ever ride with us on his Triumph,

all, he missed the start but adapted well despite missing the briefing. Sam once again did a great job as TEC. Brian Q also came along on his Himalayan and it was good to see him on a branch ride again. We somehow lost him in Korumburra!

After a shortish “transport” section we rode south from Tynong. Cora Lyn, Poowong and some great roads

and scenery featured on our way to Alf’s.

The morning refreshment break took way longer than necessary and not one single complaint was even contemplated.

The destination of Mirboo North is roughly east north east of Alf & Renate’s home so of course, in his wisdom, Alf led us away to the south west! More great riding with places such as Outtrim and Koonwarra featuring as we rode more great roads through great countryside before stopping for lunch at Mirboo North.

We enjoyed a chat and food at the bakery.
Alf then headed home and the rest of us rode north to Thorpdale and then took Sunny Creek Road to get back to the highway. Again, great scenery and riding. One farm driveway has now been contributing loose gravel to a shaded bend for over 10 years that I’m aware of and that gravel certainly featured in conversation

as we all bid each other farewell before joining the Princes Freeway back to Melbourne.
Another great day riding with the Ulysses Club – Melbourne Branch and the bike need fuel by the time I got home. Thanks everyone.
To anyone else reading this, we’re a branch of the Ulysses Club so all club members are welcome on any branch ride as are people thinking of joining. Today we had members from Gippsland, South Gippsland and Whittlesea branches as well as a first time (branch) rider with us.
Cheers John Cook
