The Yarra Valley looked a bit misty or smoky when we assembled in Lilydale for Jack’s ride and still looked much the same as I rode back home in the afternoon.   Lots of beautiful sunshine in between though.😎

I believe I counted about 15 bikes, and it was great to see participants from far and wide.  I suspect Rick from Rosebud may have had the longest ride to the start point.  Once greetings and lies were exchanged,

Jack briefed us on the route.  This included a “tight and technical” ride on narrow roads between Yarra Glen and St Andrews which I love but some members don’t enjoy. Sam took on tail end duties and we set off via the highway via Coldstream to

Yarra Glen and into the hills.  We had a good run and even had little traffic climbing up to Kinglake

from St Andrews and riding conditions were perfect for the last weekend of winter.  The descent to Glenburn was delightful and we then rode via Break O Day to Yea

for our cuppa/chat break.

The ride from Molesworth

to Alexandra was delightful as usual with open sweeping roads and lovely views.  The ride over Skyline Road

from Alexandra to Eildon was at its most beautiful today.    

After lunch, I checked out the weir wall at Eildon and rode home via the Black Spur.   

Had a good run and enjoyed the road and scenery.  The only mild irritation was one driver who had no concept of what “slow vehicle turnouts” were for.   I reminded myself that getting angry or overtaking illegally isn’t worth it.  Yes, that was a bit of a struggle.

  I did see several police vehicles during our ride and they were satisfied with our riding and ignored us.    Great ride thanks Jack and thanks to all who came along.  At Eildon I confirmed that I am a “Senior” member of the Ulysses Club when I discovered I had left my wallet at home.  Happily, the distance today was no problem for the old Honda and Pat shouted me a pie to go with the coffee I always carry.  Thanks Pat.
