Lilydale To Korrumburra, 23/11/2025.
Six of us, including Jack, Nick, Cevat, Rod and Ralph, believed the BOM and started from Lilydale. The BOM was right. The drizzle stopped. The roads dried out. Naturally the surface was damp going through Noogee State Forest. It was also clean so easy to get through. Once past there it was mostly dry except for the last few kilometres into Korrumburra. We managed to get there at a few minutes to 12 noon. Alf was there to greet us and we also had the opportunity to view his latest bike, a KTM 690 Duke. For those not knowing : The 690 is the most powerful single ( 70 bhp ) out there and will tough for sports bikes to beat on tight roads. It was smart buying for Alf. It may be a 2013 bike but had done very low Ks and looked like new. Skipping morning tea we declared lunch.
Changing the ride route we went in the beach direction, enjoying the great Sth Gippy roads to St Alvy, around to Loch and Nyora. From there we joined the Sth Gipps Hwy and headed for home, all in dry conditions and finishing around 3.00 pm. Thanks to the brave souls who came and to Nick especially for being Rear Rider. It's always good to have Ralph from Yarra Ranges on our rides too. He shows us that you don't need a large capacity machine to participate on rides. A modern scooter can handle anything and offers more weather protection and storage space than most bikes.
