Impromptu Mid Week Ride 25 November 2025
Just 12 hours after sharing a little thought bubble, seven of us

(on a very interesting variety of bikes) enjoyed an impromptu “Twin Spurs” Ride today.

We gathered at Lilydale, Ian took on TEC duty and we rode off east and immediately left the highway and rode past vineyards,

farms and orchards before stopping at a bakery in Yarra Junction

for a snack and a drink.
Then it was a bit more back roads with views to Mt Donna Buang before riding through Warburton and on to the Reefton Spur.

We then enjoyed the climb up to Cumberland Junction with no traffic issues. The road from Cambarville through to Lake Mountain certainly had its share of bumps and undulations after the snow season but was still a very enjoyable mid week ride.
Greg

met us at Marysville after riding over from Alexandra and we enjoyed lunch while being harassed

by the local birdlife. Saw quite a few other bikes out enjoying the perfect weather too.

We then rode back to Buxton and stopped to take in the roadside trees.

We then bid Greg farewell and had a simply magical ride back over the Black Spur with zero traffic going our way until we reached Healesville. No way we were going to stop while enjoying that ride.
We then peeled off at assorted locations and Mike on his Indian (second ride with us) followed me home to Montrose before he rode on home.
The ride was very much an impromptu thing dreamed up last night after checking the weather forecast and deferring some gardening/duties.
Many thanks to all who came along. I thoroughly enjoyed the company and the ride.
Cheers John Cook
